Tips
  1. Prior to having a liner installed into an existing fireplace vent - Have your Chimney Sweeper do a final cleaning.
  2. Metal Liners DO prevent costly repair bills. When having your chimney repaired, ASK about protection for your ROOF - "Rubber back mats are great for keeping shingles heated and work area clean through the repair."
  3. Be sure your Contractor is Licensed & TSSA Registered. THIS IS REQUIRED for Gas and Oil fired appliances!
  4. Be sure of WSIB coverage and insurance for your protection.
  5. If you are not sure of your Chimney condition: Go out and look above the roof line. Deterioration will be evident.
  6. When getting your chimney repaired you should get at least 3 QUOTES!
    - Ask for References.
    - How long has the company been in the trade?
    - ** When your repair is Completed be sure your vent is clear of debris (Furnace / Water Heater Flue) With Fireplace Chimney "MAKE SURE YOUR SMOKE CHAMBER ABOVE THE DAMPER IS CLEAR!" (So you can operate your damper door.
  7. Preventive maintenance on your chimneys can save $1000 of dollars.
